Principal Consultant


Dr Susan Gehrig is a seasoned vegetation ecologist and ecophysiologist with a robust applied research background in assessing the water use needs of riverine, wetland, and floodplain vegetation.


With more than 15 years of experience in the Lower and Mid-Murray regions, she has taken an active role in leading and managing numerous projects aimed at the conservation of freshwater vegetation and the management of water resources.


Well-versed in the local, regional, state, and Commonwealth governance frameworks within the Murray-Darling Basin, Susan is dedicated to exploring how environmental water can sustain and rejuvenate our rivers, floodplains, and wetlands, while concurrently bolstering the local communities and industries reliant on a vibrant and operational catchment.

  • expert advice and guidance in setting ecological objectives and targets for managing freshwater vegetation communities at a range of spatial scales,
  • habitat and ecological condition assessments,
  • specialist technical expertise for determining water-use requirements of freshwater vegetation communities,

  • development and implementation of monitoring programs,
  • predictive tools and conceptual models to inform flow regimes for freshwater vegetation communities in need of recovery, regeneration and/or maintenance,
